CONDITIONS
Long Covid or Post Covid Symptoms
In most cases, mild or moderate Covid symptoms last approximately two weeks. Others, however, continue to experience health issues after recovering from the acute phase of the illness. There is no longer any active coronavirus in these patients in the body. The individual would test negative for the coronavirus if tested, but they may still be severely incapacitated. The post-Covid condition occurs in individuals with a history of probable or confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection, typically three months after the onset of Covid, with symptoms that last at least two months and cannot be explained by another diagnosis. Common symptoms impacting daily functioning include fatigue, shortness of breath, and cognitive dysfunction. After initial recovery from an acute Covid infection, symptoms may manifest for the first time or persist. In addition, symptoms may fluctuate or recur over time.
