Adrenal Fatigue

Cortisol is one of the hormones produced by the adrenal glands, which are two small glands found at the top of the kidneys and responsible for producing several other hormones. We produce and release short bursts of cortisol into the bloodstream in response to stress. According to the adrenal fatigue theory, prolonged stress exposure can deplete the adrenal glands, resulting in low cortisol levels. Brain fog, low energy, depressive mood, salt and sweet cravings, light-headedness, nervousness, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and digestive issues result from adrenal depletion. The term adrenal fatigue was coined in 1998 by naturopath and alternative medicine expert Dr James Wilson. He defines it as a cluster of interrelated signs and symptoms when the adrenal glands do not function at the required level.
